Spiced Apple Puree Martini.

I made myself this delicious drink yesterday.

Firstly you will need to puree some apples. I’ll be honest, the puree was originally made  to complement the evening’s pork chops, but I thought the puree too good to waste!

For the puree:

  • Wash, peel, core and chop 2 bramley apples.
  • Put in bowl.
  • Add one tablespoon of cider vinegar.
  • 1/2 tablespoon of brown sugar. 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon.
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cloves.
  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg.
  • Toss.
  • Place on a baking sheet and bake in the oven at 200c for 1/2 hr.

Once cooked mash with fork. You’ll be left with a fair amount of puree.

For the Martini:

  • Place a good couple of teaspoons of puree into your Boston shaker.
  • Add 4 measures of  premium vodka.
  • Add a measure of whisky. Add a splash of vanilla essence.
  • Add an equal amount of nutmeg, cocoa powder and cinnamon. (I have this in a shaker for my morning coffee. You will need just a sprinkle.)
  • Add ice and shake for a good 15 seconds or until properly chilled.
  • Strain into a chilled Martini glass.
  • Garnish with a cinnamon stick.

Very sweet, but a great accompaniment to a pork dish.
